Those that really know hip-hop know how 2Pac's Hit 'em Up was one of the hardest diss tracks ever, almost a call to arms. This video is a parody of current American politics utilizing that very song. I am reminded of a comment by President Obama during his campaigning days regarding certain individuals who "cling to their guns and religion". Focusing on the religious aspect of the quote I see how true the quote is.
Although I have my own faiths and beliefs I do not see the reason for religion-based political opinions. Take the time to understand that NOT EVERYONE is the same religion as you, and you could, in fact be WRONG. Try to understand that your religion could be based on fact AND fiction. Try to understand that just because you worship "religiously" and know your respective text inside and out, it does not make you better than persons that do not. Starting off the sentence with "Well, the Bible says..." says to me that "I have taken what I've read as face value and will not take the time to see if there is an alternate translation or deeper meaning." The Bible (I use the text of my own religion here) says many things, many "do's and don'ts". I don't see how a person could "pick and choose" what they want to follow, yet have an excuse for the sins they commit. In my opinion many Republicans/Conservatives do this very thing using a tried and true method of instilling fear and hate, using words like "I'm afraid that..., I fear that..., or that someone or something is un-American, wrong, or just plain evil due to not following strict "Christian guidelines". Do not get me wrong, there are Democrats/Liberals who do the same things, just not as prevalent and outspokenly as Republicans/Conservatives (right, Tea Party?). Although this video paints the individuals as stereotypical, I understand it's direction as a "hardcore" and "thuggish" response by an otherwise reserved President Obama to the negativity from the right. It is also humorous to me to think of the utter shock then silence that would come from Republicans if this "Presidential Bitch Slap" was real.
